ARROWS ADVANCE TO THE ONTARIO FINALS

(Rochester, July 27)… Rochester Knighthawks defenseman Marshall Abrams and Assistant Coach Jason Johnson guided the Six Nations Arrows to a 4-3 win over the Whitby Warriors 4-3 and a sweep the best-of-seven Ontario Junior "A" Semifinal. The Arrows now advance to the Ontario Finals to take on the Orangeville Northmen.

“I am really happy with the guys,” said Head Coach Marshall Abrams. “We played well, smart and good defense. We lost two games there during the regular season and the win and the sweep showed how much we have learned this season.”

First Team All-Star Alex Kedoh Hill led the Arrows with one goal and two assists as Six Nations jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the decisive game. Elijah Printup, Chancy Johnson and Knighthawk Peter Jacobs each recorded one goal and one assist apiece. In goal, Randy Johnson made 40 saves, including 15 in the final period.

Shayne Jackson led the Warriors with two points (1+1) and goalie Alexis Buque was stellar in goal with 34 saves. Jackson assisted on Whitby’s second goal of the game to cut the Six Nations’ lead to 4-2. Cameron Holding scored at 18:04 of the third, but that would be the only goal of the final period.

“We had a lot of opportunities, but their goalie played well,” said Abrams. “Our goalie played well and so did our defense, especially 5-on-5. All of their shots were contested and from bad angles, which made less work for our goalie. We are back to square one now.”

Six Nations and Orangeville will meet in Game 1 of the Ontario Finals on Saturday, July 31st. The Northmen entered the playoffs as the top team in the Ontario Junior “A” circuit and they completed a sweep of the Burlington Chiefs on Monday.

“It is always a tough place to play but the boys will be ready,” said Abrams.
