POINT'S 'HIGH-FIVE' HELPS SIX NATIONS TAKE 2-0 LEAD

(Rochester, July 29th)… Rochester Knighthawks forward Craig Point recorded five points (2+3) and scored the game-winner last night as the Six Nations Chiefs took a 2-0 series lead over the Ajax-Pickering Rock. Game 3 shifts back to Six Nations tonight for an 8:00 p.m. contest in the first-round MSL playoff matchup.

Colin Doyle led the Chiefs with seven points (2+5), while Roger Vyse (0+5) and Kim Squire (3+2) each contributed five-point efforts as Six Nations defeated the Rock, 16-10. Rochester Knighthawks goalie Jake Henhawk earned the victory in goal.

After falling behind 2-1 early in the first period, Six Nations exploded for seven of the next eight goals to grab an 8-3 lead after one. Squire had the hot hand, scoring three times including two straight at the end of the period.

The Rock rallied the second period to cut the lead down to 9-7 with Brock Boyle providing two of the goals, including the seventh Ajax goals of the game at 12:49. Point helped Six Nations restore order with his second goal at 17:50 of the second. That goal proved to be the game-winner, as Henhawk and the Chiefs defense limited the Rock to just three goals the rest of the way.

In the third period, the Rock and Chiefs traded two goals each before Six Nations put the game away with three goals in 56 seconds. Delby Powless made it 14-10 at 15:11, which was followed up Rob Marshall’s third of the game at 15:46. Doyle made it 16-10 at 16:07 of the third.
