(Rochester, July 30th)… Rochester Knighthawks forward Craig Point notched four points (2+2) and goalie Jake Henhawk made 34 saves as the Six Nations Chiefs defeated the Ajax-Pickering Rock 10-4 Thursday night. With the win, the Chiefs grabbed a 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven MSL playoff series.
Six Nations also received four-point nights from Colin Doyle (1+3) and Roger Vyse (1+3), while Tom Montour chipped in with a three-goal performance. Ajax-Pickering was led by a 32-save effort from goalie Tyler Carlson.
The Rock opened the game with momentum as they led 3-2 after the first period and increased that margin to 4-2 in the early part of the second. Yet, the Chiefs were undeterred as they strung together a 5-0 run to move in front 7-4 after two. Montour provided two of the five tallies in the rally.
The third period was all Chiefs as Henhawk turned away all 12 Rock shots. Meanwhile, Montour, Brendan Thenhaus and Point did the damage offensively. Six Nations can complete a 4-0 sweep of the Rock on Sunday, August 1st as they travel to Ajax for the 4:00 p.m. contest.
