(November 20, 2012)… Rochester native Joe Walters will forgo his holiday shopping this week, as he joins Knighthawks teammate Joel White for THE BLACK FRIDAY Offense/Defense Academy.

Walters, who won the 2012 National Lacrosse League Championship with the Rochester Knighthawks, will partner with Knighthawks teammate and two-time NCAA National Champion Joel White to present an offense/defense academy.

On a day traditionally reserved for shopping, Walters and White will hold their Offense/Defense Academy on Friday, November 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Rochester Sports Garden (1460 E Henrietta Rd.). The camp is limited to 40 kids. The deadline to register is Wednesday, November 21st at 2:00 p.m. Please email Joe Walters to confirm your attendance.

“We want to take advantage of the Black Friday sales at the mall. Just drop your kids off with us, as we elevate their game, while you shop at Marketplace just down the street,” said Walters.

White currently plays defense for the Rochester Rattlers (MLL). He was a standout at Syracuse University, where he was a three-time All-American. Walters played his college lacrosse at the University of Maryland after a successful career at Irondequoit High School. He had a breakout NLL season in 2012, finishing second on the team with 13 points in the playoffs. Walters plays in the MLL for the Hamilton Nationals and has two MLL titles to his credit.

Walters will run one final camp to close out 2012, returning with his annual SHARP SHOOTER ACADEMY. The two-day camp runs from Thursday, December 27th to Friday, December 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The shooting specialty camp, set for All Star Sports Arena (557 E Ridge Rd.), is limited to 30 students. The cost is $175 and includes a Nike Dri-Fit Academy shirt. The first 15 students to register will also receive a free STX proton power. There are no age requirements, but please no beginners.

“It’s a great gift to give your lacrosse player for the holidays,” said Walters.
