KNIGHTHAWKS HIT THE TURF BRIGHT AND EARLY
11/25/2012 - 8:31am

(November 25, 2012)… Day Two of Training Camp kicked off this morning at Total Sports Experience with some new faces as goalies Ian Duffy and Mike Matteo joined the team. “It felt really good. The speed was much faster and what I am used to,” said defenseman Ian Llord, who recently joined the Knighthawks. “I liked the tempo. The guys were really pushing each other.”

Llord spent the last five seasons in the NLL with the Knighthawks’ thruway rivals, the Buffalo Bandits. He was joined in camp by Tom Montour, who played in Buffalo for four seasons. The 30-year-old won a Champion’s Cup in 2003 with Toronto. In his career, he has collected 153 points and 646 loose balls in 105 professional games. Last season, he recorded 12 points and 72 loose balls in nine games.

"We want to play where we are wanted,” said Llord. “I am happy to be here. It is a breath of fresh air.”

For Joel McCready it was a chance to return to the team after taking the 2012 campaign off to focus on his firefighting career. McCready enters his fourth season with the Knighthawks in 2013. He finished the 2011 regular season second on the team with 43 penalty minutes and sixth with 65 loose balls.

"It was exciting to be with the guys again,” he said. “It feels like being back with the family.”

The Knighthawks will return to town on Saturday, December 8th, to host the Minnesota Swarm in a National Lacrosse League preseason game at The Blue Cross Arena. The Knighthawks will host the Swarm at 8:00 p.m. FREE Tickets are available online at Knighthawks.com, by clicking here. Fans must have a ticket to enter the game.
