After a championship season in 2012, Rochester Knighthawks owner and general manager Curt Styres has the defending champions primed for another National Lacrosse League title run in 2013. Styres was recently featured in an article by Casey Vock in the January issue of Inside Lacrosse Magazine as part of their NLL preview.
"One of the Six Nations reserve's most successful businessmen, Styres puts his family above all else as much as he can with a packed schedule," Vock wrote. "And though it might seem to contradict the way that the Knighthawks have made rapid and radical trades, Styres is known for treating members of his teams like family."
"The biggest thing, and Curt says it a lot, is that it's a family," head coach Mike Hasen said of the Knighthawks franchise. "Curt welcomes everybody in and treats people top-notch, and he expects a lot out of them. But as long as you're giving your best effort, he'll take the shirt off his back for you."
"His heart is definitely where it should be," Knighthawks forward Cody Jamieson told Vock. "He loves lacrosse, he loves the game. And nobody can deny that or take that from him, the love and the passion he has. He just goes above and beyond what anyone else would do for the game of lacrosse. He'll do it all. Whatever needs to be done for a lacrosse team, he'll make sure it happens. That's just the type of guy he is: a man of his word."
