R. THUNDER TO SHOW OFF NEW LOOK AT OPENER
01/11/2013 - 10:17am

(January 11, 2013)… When Rochester Knighthawks’ mascot R. Thunder charges out of the tunnel for the home opener, he will reveal his new look for the 2013 season. For months, he has been in training to help the team defend its 2012 National Lacrosse League Championship.

He has become a frequent visitor to Harro East, pumping iron and hitting the treadmill. With his new physique, he has had to upgrade his wardrobe with the help of the team store. The finishing touches to his makeover were courtesy of James Ross Salon in Greece. R. Thunder was pampered with a manicure, and a fresh hairstyle fitting for an Eagle on a mission. He recapped his offseason transformation for Knighthawks.com.

What prompted you to get a makeover?
“My feathers were molting and making a mess! My friends at the Knighthawks office suggested that I get my feathers trimmed, and my New Year’s resolution was to get some more exercise, so the gym seemed like a good idea!”

How was your time at the gym?
“Intense! It’s been awhile since I worked out, but I had my friend Emily there to encourage me. So I think I did okay!”

How does some new styling make you feel?
“I feel refreshed, rejuvenated and strong! I feel like a whole new bird! It’s amazing what a little exercise and styling can do!”

Did you find any new gear to complement your new look?
“There was a new jersey I really liked, and some of those hoodies looked great at the team store, too! They didn’t carry any hats in my size, but that’s alright! The jersey suits me just fine!”

Do you feel like you’re ready for the season now?
“A returning champion needs to both look good, and feel good. I think this was a good start for my season! I’m ready to tackle anything now! Let’s go Hawks!”
