PLAYOFF PLAY OF THE WEEK - ROUND 1
05/01/2013 - 3:49pm

(May 1, 2013)... Every week this season, we will take a look back at the Top 5 Plays from the Rochester Knighthawks' weekend action. Fans can vote for their favorite plays from each week and at the end of the season chose the ultimate highlight from 2013.

Last week’s Play of the Week, as chosen by the fans, was Craig Point’s hat-trick goal. The goal was set up by three great passes; the first a behind-the-back flip from Dan Dawson to Mike Accursi. While on the ground, Accursi then found Cody Jamieson, who fired the ball to Point through a tight window. WATCH POINT’S HAT-TRICK GOAL

Joe Walters earned a spot on this week’s Play of the Week with a great individual effort to crash the net. He scored with a diving shot on goaltender Brandon Miller’s left side.

Dawson scored a game-high four goals against his former club in the 10-8 victory. His second goal mimicked his diving shot from a week prior in Buffalo. He lifted his 6-5 frame off the turn and netted a far-side goal.

Stephen Keogh collected a loose ball from a mishandled behind-the-back shot by Johnny Powless. Keogh gathered the ball in his stick, and while on the ground, shoveled it forward and managed to score from his stomach.

Craig Point rifled a quick-stick goal past an off-balance Miller after receiving a behind-the-back pass from Dawson.

While his brother scored four goals, Paul Dawson did his part to secure the win. “We had numbers so then I kind of ran it up,” Paul Dawson said. “Their guy left me at first, so I went to take the shot and then he came up to play me so that’s when I ducked underneath. I threw a little bit of a fake and (Brandon) Miller went down. I knew I was close to the crease so I dove and tried to get it over top of him.”
