LAST FINAL 4 SPOT UP FOR GRABS IN P.O.T.Y.
09/03/2013 - 11:54am

(September 3, 2013)... Throughout the season, fans have been asked to vote for their favorite play from each weekend for the Rochester Knighthawks' Play of the Week. Now, the 16 winners from each week of the 2013 championship season are going head-to-head for the right to be named the Knighthawks' Play of the Year. The Play of the Week winners have been divided into four regions - Defense, Behind-the-Back Goals, Crafty Helpers and Playmakers. It will be up to the voters to decide which plays advance from the round of 16 and attempt to earn the title as the top play from 2013.

The first play in contention for the last spot in the Final 4 is the Play of the Week from the opening weekend way back on January 5th. Cody Jamieson found Johnny Powless in the middle of the floor with one behind-the-back pass, who then hit Cory Vitarelli with a second behind-the-back pass on the crease. Vitarelli finished the play with goal, but it is the two passes which set up the goal which gives this candidate a chance at being crowned the Play of the Year.

Fighting to advance to the Final 4 is Stephen Keogh's goal scored from the ground. Against Philadelphia in the first round of the playoffs, Keogh charged to the net to recover a loose ball after a blocked shot from Powless. With defenseman Brett Manney draped over his back, Keogh stumbled to the ground, but managed to fire the ball past goaltender Brandon Miller from his stomach.

Watch both plays carefully and then vote for the play you would like to see advance to the Final 4 in the Knighthawks' 2013 Play of the Year Showdown. One fan who votes for the winning play will be selected to receive two vouchers to a game during the 2014 season. Check back to Knighthawks.com on Friday, September 6th when the winning play from this match-up will be revealed.

Voting for this match-up is now over.
