The Rochester Knighthawks will officially kick off the National Lacrosse League preseason on Saturday, December 7th when they take on the Minnesota Swarm at home at The Blue Cross Arena. The game is set to begin at 8:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on YouTube via The Lacrosse Network.

The preseason game marks the beginning of the Knighthawks’ pursuit to be the first NLL team to win three straight championships after clinching the Champion’s Cup in 2012 and 2013. The exhibition game will be a preview of Rochester’s regular season home opener against Minnesota on Saturday, December 28th. Tickets for the preseason game are available free of charge at the Knighthawks Office.

An hour before faceoff, the National Lacrosse League will induct former Knighthawks goaltender Pat O’Toole as the 21st member of its Hall of Fame.

Fans can attend the 6:00 p.m. Hall of Fame VIP Reception for just $15 each by contacting the league via email at or by calling the league office at (212) 764-1390. The ticket includes complimentary snacks and a cash bar, along with the opportunity to visit and take photos with O’Toole.

Knighthawks on Air: Both Joe Walters and Pat O’Toole will be heard on the Rochester radio airwaves on Thursday, December 5th. Walters will be featured on the John Di Tullio show at 5:05 p.m. Fans can tune into Sports 1280-AM WHTK or can listen online at O’Toole will be on air with Bob Matthews at 6:45 p.m. That day, fans can hear the future NLL Hall of Famer on WHAM 1180-AM or online at

Free Lacrosse Clinic and Winter Coat Drive: Rochester native and Knighthawks star Joe Walters and his teammates are holding a free lacrosse clinic on Friday, December 6th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Total Sports Experience in Gates. The event is open to boys and girls of all ages and skill levels. Children who attend are asked to donate a new or gently used winter coat to benefit the Rochester City School District. The coat drive will continue on Saturday, December 7th at the Knighthawks home preseason game against the Minnesota Swarm at 8:00 p.m.  Fans who donate a coat at the game will in turn receive a coupon for a discounted ticket to the Knighthawks’ home opener on Saturday, December 28th against the Minnesota Swarm.
